Packing Tips for Your Next Move

  • 1. Use only small boxes for books. They get very heavy, very fast. Remember: the heavier the item, the smaller the box.
  • 2. Always stack dishes upwards when packing.
  • 3. NEVER used printed newsprint to wrap fine china.
  • 4. Use custom-designed boxes when packing fine china and clothing. Visit AppleDiscountBoxes.com
  • 5. NEVER use duct tape on boxes - use packing tape.
  • 6. Clearly label all boxes on top and side.
  • 7. Pack important documents separately to be easily accessible; including health records, passports, family records, insurance information and photo albums.
  • 8. Only use boxes with tops. No tops make it difficult to stack them properly in the truck.
  • 9. Try to pack all electronic equipment, like stereos in their original box if possible, otherwise, use bubble wrap when packing these items.
  • 10. Pack one room at a time. Packing can appear to be an insurmountable task when viewed from the perspective of the entire house. Packing one room at a time (and staying with that room until it is fully packed) has the effect of dividing the overall task into several smaller and more manageable tasks. This approach also makes it possible to set realistic goals, i.e. pack the dining room today, the kitchen tomorrow, etc.
